How tight exactly should the pulley on the head unit of my SN 93 be? Should it spin freely with the twist of your hand or should it feel tight enough to have to turn it with a ratchet? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hard to believe that you would need a ratchet. Even the Procharger F2 at the WFC could be spun easily by hand.

It should take a ratchet if it is in good shape. SN is a Ball Drive unit and it takes a lot for it to turn. Sounds to me your unit is in good shape if it turns hard but smooth NO notch feeling.
Thats what I had thought. This unit worked perfectly but someone suggested that this tightness seemed like a problem. Thanks alot for the info ,much appreciated.Originally Posted by speedytang
It is hard to believe that those things turn so hard. Glad it is considered OK for you.

The pulley bolt should turn at 20 to 40 inch/lbs right ?
And the VR4 at 50 inch/lbs ?

yes but it is about three times that with no fluid in the unit.
Wow I had no idea that thery were that hard to turn. I just bought one off of ebay so I haven't recieved it yet. How much horse power do yo figure you loose if its that hard to turn?
Im new to superchargers is that common in ball drive blowers?
That is common in balldrives but once it turnes you don't need so much force to keep it turning.
So you can turn it by hand and once it turnes it goes easyer.
